How I work
I'm Debbie Groombridge — a PTUK certified play therapist and parent consultant. I work with families worldwide via email consultations and online video sessions, grounded in a play-based, attachment-focused approach developed over 12 years of clinical practice.
My approach
Play therapy moves at the child's own pace. It's emotionally safe and doesn't expect children to put feelings into words that even adults struggle to express. Through play, children process what's happening for them — and I help you understand what you're seeing and how to respond.
My work is grounded in attachment theory and 12 years of clinical experience with children and teens aged 4 to 18, in schools and in private practice.

When you book a consultation or join the premium library, you also get access to an essential set of supporting tools that help you put guidance into practice between our conversations:
- Journaling prompts — record what happened, what you tried, and how it went.
- Personalised plans — a tailored behavioural plan built around your child's needs.
- Progress tracking — see patterns and trends over time so you know what's working.
These are there to support our work together — not a substitute for it. They're available from your client dashboard once you've started.
A note for families outside the UK: I work with families worldwide via email consultations and online video sessions. My private practice is based in the UK, so if you're reading this from the US (or anywhere else), the email consultation is often the easiest way to start — no time zone confusion, a thoughtful written response, and you get to digest it at your own pace.
